Shantanu Maheshwari and Medha Rana’s romantic drama series Ishq In The Air is set to premiere on Amazon MX Player on September 20, the makers announced on Wednesday, dropping a trailer for the show.
“Yaatri kripya dhyaan de: yeh ishq ki flight take-off kar chuki hai aur aapke screens tak pohochegi by 20th September. (This flight has taken off and will land on your screens on September 20). The one-minute-43-second-long trailer follows the love story of photographer Naman (Shantanu) and hair stylist Kavya (Medha), who meet at an airport in Indore. Their bond deepens during their flight to Bombay. “Two strangers, travel gone wrong, a night of adventures,” Kavya says, summing up their first encounter and asking Naman when he will visit Mumbai again.
Naman, on the other hand, feels the experience is unreal, almost like a dream. Soon, family problems pose a serious challenge to their relationship, with Naman seeking commitment and Kavya apologising as she struggles to understand her own feelings.
Directed by Tanmai Rastogi, Ishq In The Air also stars Vandana Joshi, Meherzan Mazda, Abhishek Sharma, Sanjeeva Vats, Nandini Sensharma, Brij Bhushan Shukla, Gandhali Jain, Devika Shahani Punjabi, Sanjay Motilal Gurbaxani, Neela Anil Mulherear and Pranav Chadha.
The upcoming YA series is backed by BBC Studios India Productions, with Sameer Gogate and Deepali Handa serving as the producers. The screenplay has been developed by Akshay Jhunjhunwala, Ayush Sharma, Chiranjeevi Bajpai and Riya Poojary.
Medha is known for her portrayal of Maya Roy in Voot’s 2022 thriller series London Files, which also features Arjun Rampal and Purab Kolhi. Besides, she was a part of a documentary series called Dancing on the Grave for Amazon Prime Video. She has also been a part of a few music videos like Armaan Malik’s Barsaat and Anuv Jain’s Gul.
Shantanu rose to fame with his portrayal of protagonist Swayam Shekhawat in Channel V’s dance drama Dil Dosti Dance. He made his Bollywood debut opposite Alia Bhatt with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's biographical drama Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022.
The 33-year-old actor was last seen in Neeraj Pandey’s romance drama Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, fronted by Ajay Devgn and Tabu. Shantanu is set to make his Bengali cinema debut with Chaalchitro — The Frame Fatale, helmed by Tooth Pari director Pratim D. Gupta. He will also appear in Rahhat Shah Kazmi’s Love in Vietnam alongside Avneet Kaur and Vietnamese actress Kha Ngan.
Earlier this year, Amazon acquired MX Player as part of its strategy to enhance its presence in India's booming video streaming market. MX Player will complement Amazon's existing video services, including Prime Video and MiniTV.
