Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has surprised fans by playing the iconic Ilaiyaraaja song En Iniya Pon Nilave on his guitar in a promotional video for Star Sports Tamil.
The clip begins on a serious note when someone interrupts YouTuber Madan Gowri’s match-watching routine and tells him that he has to interview someone immediately. Right after that, Watson enters the room in a formal blue suit and trousers.
Gowri, who looks miffed about missing out the action on TV, begins the pretend interview by asking the cricketer about his career. He even asks Watson whether he has any knowledge of the Indian Premier League (IPL), prompting hilarity all over as the former Australian cricketer has represented three IPL sides — Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings — since the tournament’s inaugural season in 2008.
Gowri, who is looking bored to death by now, asks Watson if he has any special talent. The Australian cricketer doesn’t say anything but picks up his guitar and plays Ilaiyaraaja’s En Iniya Pon Nilave, creating a special moment for both cricket and music fans.
