Following the trailer launch of Shine Tom Chacko’s Boomerang and G.V Prakash Kumar’s Kalvan, the makers of other upcoming movies from the Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries dropped new trailers and teasers last week. Here’s a look at some of them.
Shakuntalam (Telugu)
The trailer of Telugu star Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s upcoming historical film Shakuntalam has been released by the makers. Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the fantasy romance is based on the popular Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa. It features Samantha in the titular role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta alongside Mohan Babu, Madhoo, Gautami, Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla.
The two-minute-50-second-long trailer revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant. The film is described as a whimsical tale of love set in the Kashyapa Kanumalu (Kashmir). Shakuntalam will hit cinemas on February 17.
Jailer (Tamil)
Sun Pictures unveiled the first look of Mohanlal in superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil-language action comedy film Jailer. The 62-year-old actor will play an important cameo role in the film.
Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, Jailer stars Rajinikanth and also features Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan and Yogi Babu.

Kunjamminni’s Hospital (Malayalam)
Indrajith Sukumaran released the first poster of his upcoming Malayalam film Kunjamminni’s Hospital. Directed by Sanal. V Devan, the fantasy comedy also features Prakash Raj, Nyla Usha, Sarayu Mohan and Baburaj.
Indrajith shared the poster on Instagram with the caption “KUNJAMMINI’s HOSPITAL, a fantasy comedy.. 🎬 May the Heavenly Vibes begin to spread.. ✨” .The film is reportedly set in the afterlife.
Goodachari 2 (Telugu and Hindi)
The first look of the second instalment of Adivi Sesh’s Telugu action thriller film series Goodachari is out. Directed by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi, the film will mark the franchise’s entry into Hindi cinema. Adivi will reprise his role as Agent 116 in the upcoming film.

Hunt (Malayalam)
The first poster of Bhavan-starrer Malayalam language suspense thriller Hunt has been released by the makers. Bhavan will play the role of a resident doctor in the film, which also features Aditi Ravi, Chandhunadh and Ajmal Ameer. The film is written by acclaimed writer Nikhil Anand.
