Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is on course to cross the Rs 1000-crore mark globally following a collection of Rs 9.2 crore worldwide over the last weekend, box office records highlighted on Monday.
According to Box office Worldwide, the Siddharth Anand-directed film, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has grossed Rs 996 crore globally since its release on January 25, breaking several box office records.
The spy thriller continues to dominate the box office despite new films like Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon’s Shehzada and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hitting the theatres.
Pathaan created history by raking in Rs 697 crore gross worldwide in its opening week, including Rs 260 crore in the overseas market. The film’s earnings dropped by around 78% globally in the second week as the action thriller made Rs 191 crore worldwide. The third week opened on a positive note for Pathaan as it collected Rs 55 crore gross over the weekend. The action thriller managed to earn Rs 4.50 crore at the box office on its fourth Sunday.
Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, Pathaan is the fourth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. It marks Shah Rukh’s comeback after Zero (2018). It was released in Hindi along with dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu and saw Salman Khan playing an explosive cameo.
Pathaan will also face stiff competition from a slew of other Bollywood films scheduled for release in the upcoming weeks, including Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee, Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor’s Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar and Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa.
