Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has eclipsed Pathaan’s record to emerge as the fastest Bollywood film to cross the Rs 300-crore mark in India, minting a staggering Rs 319.16 crore nett in five days, according to Box Office India figures.

Pathaan achieved the same feat in six days, while Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 took eight days to do so. The Atlee-helmed action-entertainer, which also features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, is the third film in 2023 to join the Rs 300-crore club.

Jawan passed the crucial Monday test on Day 5, adding an impressive Rs 33 crore nett to its tally. The film has demonstrated its widespread appeal by maintaining strong occupancy rates — 17.38% in Hindi-speaking regions, 13.72% in Tamil-speaking areas and 16.75% in Telugu-speaking regions — on the first day after the weekend.

Jawan’s remarkable journey to success reached its pinnacle on Sunday as it went on to gross an astonishing Rs 81 crore nett in a single day, making it the highest single-day earner in the history of Hindi cinema. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Shah Rukh’s Pathaan, which had earned Rs 70.50 crore nett (with Hindi collections at Rs 68 crore nett) on the second day of its release, coinciding with January 26, a national holiday.

Apart from tumbling records at the domestic box office, Jawan has also become the fastest Bollywood film to reach the Rs 500-crore mark worldwide. The film has so far amassed approximately Rs 575 crore globally.
