Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has amassed a record-breaking global collection of nearly Rs 40 crore through advance booking, with over 9 lakh tickets sold for shows across leading cinema chains, box office data-tracking platform Saclink has mentioned in its latest report.

The Atlee-helmed action thriller has raked in more than Rs 25 crore gross in India through advance bookings, as per records last updated on September 5, two days ahead of Jawan’s September 7 release.

Jawan sold approximately 2,80,000 tickets on the BookMyShow app alone on September 5.

In India, the original Hindi-language version leads the pre-sales chart with a jaw-dropping Rs 23.75 crore gross collection and 8,15,000 tickets sold. The Tamil version has collected Rs 88 lakh with 57,400 tickets sold in advance, while the Telugu version has grossed Rs 46 lakh with 35,200 tickets sold so far.

Jawan has already sold 3,65,000 tickets in the three national cinema chains — PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis — as of September 5. PVR and INOX have jointly sold over three lakh tickets, while Cinepolis has contributed an additional 65,000 tickets.

The movie is on course to surpass Pathaan, which sold 5,56,000 tickets through advance bookings, to register the highest-ever pre-sales for the opening day in Bollywood history.

In the international market, Jawan has already raked in an astounding USD 1.56 million (Rs 13 crore) in ticket sales. North America stands at the forefront of the international pre-sales with USD 600,000 in ticket sales, followed by the GCC with USD 450,000 and the UK with USD 225,000.

Jawan is poised to emerge as the biggest Bollywood opener of all time, both domestically and globally. Early projections suggest that the movie could potentially cross the Rs 125 crore mark worldwide on its opening day, thus dethroning the current record-holder, Pathaan, which recorded an opening of Rs 105 crore in January this year. In India, the actioner is looking at a humongous opening of Rs 65-70 crore nett, as per industry experts.

Also starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, Jawan revolves around a man on a mission to exact revenge for the crimes committed against his father. Shah Rukh’s Pathaan co-star Deepika Padukone plays a cameo in this movie as well.
