Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film Jawan has raked in nearly Rs 17 crore through advance ticket sales, with almost six lakh tickets sold across the country in less than 72 hours, as per figures calculated by data management platforms.
According to box office data tracking platform Sacnilk, a total of 5,77,255 tickets have been sold for the film so far. The Hindi market led the charge with 5,29,568 tickets sold in the 2D format, while 11,558 viewers opted for the IMAX experience, its report said.
The Tamil and Telugu markets also contributed significantly, with 19,899 and 16,230 tickets sold, respectively, bringing the film's total earnings from advance bookings to an astonishing Rs 16.93 crore.
Jawan is now poised to achieve an unprecedented goal of collecting Rs 40 crore from advance bookings alone. Shah Rukh’s previous release, Pathaan secured Rs 32 crore from advance bookings and went on to register an all-India opening of Rs 57 crore. Trade estimates are now suggesting that Jawan could surpass these figures with an opening of over Rs 65 crore — a milestone that has never been achieved by any Hindi film before.
Jawan is not only dominating the pre-sales charts in the domestic market but also making waves internationally. A fan of Shah Rukh shared an advance booking promo on a billboard in the iconic Times Square, New York, on Sunday night (according to US time zones).
Shah Rukh Khan Universe Fan Club group shared the video of this spectacle on social media platforms, captioning it, "#JAWAN takes over the Times Square - @SRKgaurav1 takes it on air The king sized celebration of the film by a FAN at the Times Square as we await the storm #ShahRukhKhan #JawanAtTimesSquare."
Shah Rukh expressed his delight at the overwhelming advance ticket sales for Jawan during an interaction with his fans on X. Responding to the outpouring of support, the actor said, "Very happy that all of you want to see films in theatres as a community. #Jawan will Insha Allah be a big-screen experience for all."
The Bollywood star also took a dig at sceptics questioning the authenticity of Jawan's advance box office numbers. When asked about the authenticity of the figures by a user, Shah Rukh replied, "Yeh social media waali ghatia baatein mat karo yaar. Have positive thoughts and good feelings for all. Better for life."
The Atlee-directed actioner, also featuring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles, is set to hit cinema screens on September 7. Shah Rukh’s Pathaan co-star Deepika Padukone plays a cameo in this film.
