Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan most-watched film on Netflix in India

The action-thriller, helmed by Atlee, was released in theatres on September 7 and added to Netflix on November 2

Shah Rukh Khan’s latest blockbuster Jawan has emerged as the most watched film on Netflix in India, the streaming platform said in a statement on Tuesday.

Sharing a poster of the action-thriller on Instagram on Tuesday, the streaming giant wrote, “Vikram Rathore has hijacked our hearts and records! ❤️‍🔥 📈 Jawan is now the most watched film in India in the first 2 weeks of launch, across all languages, on Netflix!”

The actioner — also starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani and Sanya Malhotra — had its digital premiere on Netflix to mark Shah Rukh’s 58th birthday on November 2.

The Atlee-directed film, which broke several box office records following its September 7 release in theatres, emerged as the highest grossing Hindi film of all time.

"I am thrilled to share that Jawan is the most watched film in India on Netflix. Releasing the extended version was our way of expressing gratitude to our fans for extending their unwavering love and support to the film,” Shah Rukh wrote on social media.

“The overwhelming response we've received from Netflix audiences only reaffirms the brilliance of Indian Cinema,” the actor said, calling Jawan a “celebration of storytelling, passion, and the vibrant spirit of our cinema”.

Directed by Atlee and co-produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma, Jawan is currently streaming on Netflix in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
