After emerging as the biggest opener of all time among Hindi films, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan crossed the Rs 100-crore mark at the domestic box office with ease on Day 2. The Atlee-helmed actioner earned a solid Rs 52.5 crore nett on Friday in all languages, taking its two-day cumulative collection to Rs 127 crore nett, according to Box Office India reports.
Pathaan, Shah Rukh’s blockbuster release earlier this year, had also collected Rs 127 crore nett in the first two days in all languages.
Jawan had minted Rs 74.5 crore nett on Day 1 in all languages at the domestic box office — Rs 65.5 crore nett in Hindi, Rs 5.3 crore nett in Tamil and Rs 3.7 crore in Telugu.
Also starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in significant roles, the actioner raked in an impressive Rs 22.45 crore across all three national theatre chains on Friday. PVR and INOX collectively contributed Rs 17.90 crore to the film's earnings, while Cinepolis added Rs 4.55 crore, cementing the film's dominance at the box office.
With Friday being a working day, Jawan experienced a slight dip in its box office earnings on the second day. But it is likely to regain momentum during its opening weekend. Industry-tracking website Box Office India predicts that Jawan is poised to cross Pathaan’s three-day earnings at the domestic box office (Rs 160 crore nett) comfortably, aiming to rake in Rs 250 crore nett in its extended opening weekend run.
Apart from setting new box office records in India, Jawan is making waves in overseas markets as well. The film grossed a humongous Rs 129.6 crore worldwide on Day 1, followed by Rs 102 crore on the second day, taking the two-day cumulative global earnings to Rs 231 crore gross. It is likely to rake in Rs 485-500 crore gross worldwide in the opening weekend.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan features Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan and Aaliyah Qureshi in significant roles. Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt make a special appearance in the movie as well.
