Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan is inching closer to the Rs 900-crore mark globally with a collection of Rs 477.28 crore in India alone, thanks to a staggering second weekend collection of Rs 68 crore at the domestic box office, according to trade reports.
The Atlee-helmed actioner, which hit theatres on September 7, has earned Rs 858.68 crore globally in 11 days, with a collection of Rs 155 crore on its second weekend globally.
With the Jawan juggernaut Shah Rukh has become the only Indian actor or filmmaker to be part of two USD 100+ million grossers in a single year, with Pathaan achieving this milestone earlier in 2023.
Jawan began its box office journey with a bang, amassing an astonishing Rs 75 crore nett on its opening day across all languages in India. The momentum remained unbroken, with earnings of Rs 53.23 crore on Day 2, followed by a first-weekend collection of Rs 158.83 crore. The film's strong performance persisted throughout the weekdays as well, garnering approximately Rs 103 crore from Monday to Thursday at the domestic box office.
In the second week, the Atlee directorial minted Rs 20 crore nett on Friday followed by Rs 32 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 36 crore nett on Sunday in all languages.
With its current trajectory, Jawan is well on its way to becoming the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year, surpassing Pathaan, which currently holds the title with a collection of Rs 1050 crore gross worldwide.
Jawan boasts a star-studded cast including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in important roles. The film also features Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, and Mukesh Chhabra, along with cameo appearances by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.
