Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has emerged as the second-highest grossing film of 2023 at the domestic box office, raking in Rs 529 crore nett in just 15 days of its theatrical release in India.
Apart from minting approximately Rs 474 crore nett for the Hindi version, the Atlee-helmed action-entertainer has so far collected Rs 55 crore nett for the Tamil and Telugu versions to become the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 50-crore mark in southern dubbed versions.
Only Shah Rukh’s previous release earlier this year, Pathaan, has earnings (Rs 543 crore nett) higher than Jawan at the moment. According to Box Office India estimates, Jawan will cross the lifetime collection of Pathaan in the third weekend itself.
Jawan, which features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles, had a record-breaking Week 1 in theatres, generating Rs 391.33 crore nett in eight days. The momentum remained strong in its second week as the action thriller amassed an impressive haul of Rs 137.96 crore nett.
The Shah Rukh-starrer, which has an extended cameo by his Pathaan co-star Deepika Padukone, has also grossed approximately Rs 920 crore worldwide so far.
