Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 blockbusters Pathaan and Jawan have been nominated for the Vulture Stunt Awards in multiple categories alongside Keanu Reeves’s John Wick 4 and Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Sharing the news of Jawan’s nomination in multiple categories, production house Red Chillies Entertainment wrote, “Jawan’s action is on fire!Jawan nominated at Vulture’s Annual Stunt Awards.”
Jawan director Atlee mentioned the categories in which the film has been nominated. Also starring Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra and Vijay Sethupathi, the actioner has earned nominations for Best Overall Action Film alongside Extraction 2, John Wick 4 and Mission Impossible 7. It has also bagged nominations for Best Vehicular Stunt and Best Stunt in an Action Film for its high-octane highway chase scene.
Jawan follows the story of Azad (Shah Rukh), a jailer of a women’s prison in Mumbai, who teams up with his father (also played by Shah Rukh) to eradicate corruption from society. Driven by revenge, Azad guides female prisoners in the jail to rectify the ills of society while also keeping a promise he made years ago.
Released on September 7 last year, Jawan amassed over Rs 1,100 crore globally, making it the most successful film of Shah Rukh’s 37-year career as an actor.
On the other hand, Pathaan has received nods for Best Overall Action Film and Best Aerial Stunt. John Wick spin-off Ballerina, John Woo’s Silent Night and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant are other action-thrillers in this category, according to the official website of Vulture Stunt Awards.
Pathaan, the fourth instalment in YRF’s Spy Universe, revolves around an exiled RAW agent (Shah Rukh) who works with ISI agent Rubina (Deepika Padukone) to combat a former RAW agent Jim (John Abraham) as he plans to destroy India with a deadly virus.
Directed by Sidharth Anand, who is currently awaiting the release of his aerial-action film Fighter, Pathaan collected over Rs 55.7 crore on its opening day, becoming Shah Rukh’s second-highest grossing film of all time.
