Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sara Ali Khan and Shanaya Kapoor were among the several Bollywood stars who celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day on Thursday by unfurling the tricolour in the presence of family and industry colleagues. Here’s a look at their photos from the celebrations.
Shah Rukh Khan hoisted the tricolour with his wife Gauri Khan, daughter Suhana Khan and younger son AbRam. “Let’s celebrate our beautiful country India with pride in our hearts…. Happy Independence Day and love to all,” read his caption on Instagram.
Sara Ali Khan posed with her father Saif Ali Khan. The father-daughter duo held Indian flags in a picture. Sara’s aunt, Saba Pataudi, reacted to the post, expressing her concern over the RG Kar incident. “I hope the Kolkata case gets justice... then celebrate our independence,” she commented, highlighting that freedom is intrinsically linked to untainted justice.
Ajay Devgn, who is currently shooting for Vijay Kumar Arora’s Son of Sardaar 2 with Mrunal Thakur, unfurled the tricolour on the film's set with other cast and crew members. “Away from home, family, and our country on this special day, but celebrating India’s greatness, spirit, and the strength of our people from here feels just as meaningful and powerful. Happy Independence Day from the team,” he wrote, alongside a video of everyone saluting the Indian flag.
Dressed in a white t-shirt, Shanaya Kapoor waved the national flag in a picture. The 24-year-old actress is all set to make her acting debut with Dharma Productions’ Bedhadak, which will also star Lakshya and Vikram Bhatt.
Actor-couple Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani unfurled the national flag on their terrace. Rakul’s latest film appearance was in Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, which also stars Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, SJ Surya, Gulshan Grover and Piyush Mishra in key roles.
Ayushmann Khurrana shared a picture of himself standing in front of India Gate in New Delhi. “Celebrating our 78 years. Let’s keep building a stronger, brighter nation together,” the actor captioned his post on Instagram.
Raveena Tandon celebrated the day with her son Ranbirvardhan and daughter Rasha. “Happy Independence Day. More power and prosperity to you, my dear motherland, Jai Hind,” wrote the Ghudchadi actress alongside a picture of herself holding the national flag.
Soha Ali Khan hoisted the tricolour with her daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu. In her caption, the actress stressed that a country is truly free only when everyone feels safe and empowered. "Today, we mark 78 years of political independence, but true freedom—for the safety, well-being, and empowerment of all our people, our daughters and sons, and our animals—remains a distant goal. I pray we reach it. 'Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake,'" she wrote, quoting a line from Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Where the Mind is Without Fear.
Actress and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar also hoisted the national flag. Manushi last starred in the Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-led action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
