Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan lauded the ‘Boys in Blue’ following Team India’s T20 World Cup, saying that his heart fills with pride to see the national cricket team happy and emotional during the victory celebrations in Mumbai on Thursday.
“Seeing the boys so happy and emotional fills my heart with pride…. As Indians this is such an amazing moment - to see our boys take us to such great heights!!! Love u all my Team India… and now dance away all night long. Boys in Blue take away all the blues! Big Congratulations to the @BCCI, @JayShah and the entire support staff that has worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that our boys could soar,” the 58-year-old actor wrote alongside a video of Team India cricketers celebrating their victory at an open-bus parade surrounded by fans along the Marine Drive.
Led by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the team also celebrated their win inside Wankhede Stadium after the open-bus parade.
The T20 World Cup final between Team India and South Africa was held in Barbados on Saturday. The Indian team landed in New Delhi the next morning. After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they flew off to Mumbai where the celebrations were held.
The thrilling final in Bridgetown, Barbados, marked the end of Virat Kohli’s T20 international career, along with captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. This victory came after more than a decade of heartbreaks in ICC World Cup knockout matches, including two at home in 2014 and 2023.
On the work front, Shah Rukh headlined three films last year, including the record-breaking hits Jawan and Pathaan. Dunki, starring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani alongside Shah Rukh, released on December 21.
Both Jawan and Dunki were produced under Shah Rukh’s home banner Red Chillies Entertainment.
Shah Rukh’s upcoming movie, reportedly titled King, is expected to feature him alongside his daughter Suhana Khan. However, an official announcement regarding King is still awaited.
