Actor Shah Rukh Khan and his sons Aryan and AbRam Khan will lend their voices to the Hindi version of Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel to the 2019 musical drama The Lion King.
In this film, Shah Rukh reprises his role as Mufasa, while Aryan returns as Simba and AbRam voices the young Mufasa. Sanjay Mishra and Shreyas Talpade also return as Pumbaa and Timon, respectively.
On Monday, Walt Disney Studios India dropped the trailer of Mufasa:The Lion King that will revisit the origins of the iconic king of the jungle. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film delves into the early life of Mufasa and his complex relationship with his younger brother Scar.
“Mufasa has an incredible legacy and stands as the ultimate king of the jungle, imparting his wisdom to his son, Simba. I deeply relate to him as a father and resonate with Mufasa’s journey in the film. Mufasa: The Lion King portrays Mufasa’s life from childhood to his rise as a remarkable king, and revisiting this character has been exceptional,” said Shah Rukh while talking about his upcoming project.
“This collaboration with Disney is special for me, especially as my sons, Aryan and AbRam, are part of this journey. Sharing this experience with them is truly meaningful,” added the Bollywood star.
Disney Studio head Bikram Duggal said the new film has become even more special with AbRam joining his father and brother in the voice cast.“When Mufasa: The Lion King was announced, we envisioned Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan as Mufasa and Simba. With AbRam joining the cast, this film has become even more special. We hope millions of Indian audiences enjoy this incredible story with their families.”
In the English version, Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. voice the young Mufasa and Scar, respectively. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter reprises her role as Nala, with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter voicing Kiara.
Mufasa: The Lion King will be released in Indian theatres on December 20 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
