Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña-starrer crime comedy Emilia Pérez, which won big at the Cannes Film Festival this year, is set to premiere on Netflix on November 13 following a theatrical run in France.
Emilia Pérez screened in competition at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May. The crime comedy helmed by Jacques Audiard bagged the prestigious Cannes Jury Prize at the festival.
Gomez, Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Adriana Paz collectively secured the award for best performance by an actress at Cannes.
The official synopsis for Emilia Pérez states: “Overqualified and undervalued, Rita is a lawyer at a large firm that is more interested in getting criminals off the hook than bringing them to justice. One day, she is given an unexpected way out, when cartel leader Manitas hires her to help him withdraw from his business and realize a plan he has been secretly preparing for years: to become the woman he has always dreamt of being.”
Zoe Saldaña takes on the role of Rita in Emilia Pérez, with Karla Sofía Gascón playing the titular character. Edgar Ramirez stars as Gustavo, and Selena Gomez portrays Jessi.
