Scoop actor Prashanth Goswami has called filmmaker Hansal Mehta one of the most revered directors who can bring both fiction and real-life incidents to life on the screen with perfection and ease.

“Hansal sir is one of the most pioneering and revered directors in the country and even across the globe. He can bring a fictional parable or a real-life experience to life in the most believable way,” said Prashanth, who has worked in Kaatelal & Sons and Hunter - Tootega Nahi, Todega.

Prashanth was directed by Mehta for the first time during the shoot of the Netflix series Scoop. Sharing his experience, the young actor said, “I was a little apprehensive on the shoot throughout. He bears a very gregarious and patient disposition and it showed when he guided or corrected the actors on the set.”

Recalling his last day of Scoop shoot, the actor said, “On my last day after the last scene, when we were bidding goodbyes, I charily went and touched his feet to pay my respects and seek blessings. He was naturally taken aback and gave me a warm smile. That approval of his was my biggest win on this project."

Remembering another memorable incident from the set, Prashanth said, “On my second-last day on the set, I was engrossed in the scene when Hansal sir just out of the blue said in front of the entire cast and crew, ‘Yeh ladka sabse sincere hai.’ (This lad is the most sincere among the lot). Everyone busy in their task just turned their eyes to me and I stood frozen. He then continued, ‘Yeh hamesha scene ke liye sabse pehle aa kar khada ho jaata hai. Aur bas apni lines rehearse kar raha hota hai.’ (He always turns up earlier than everyone else and starts to rehearse his lines from the scene).”

The actor will be seen playing a junior reporter in the show alongside Karishma Tanna and Zeeshan Ayyub’s characters.

Goswami informs that his character was added in the last phase of the writing process and an old audition was shown to the director. He said, “I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company merely two weeks ago right before the shoot was to begin. Apparently, my character’s role was added in the final phase just a few days ago. I count my blessings to this day that an archaic audition of mine at the reputed casting company was shown to Hansal sir and I was readily and creatively approved by the direction team.”

Talking about how he landed the role he said, “The part required a firm command on English on the actor's part, and I had been known at the casting company to hold my strength in it. I, at first, couldn't fathom to have been offered a part on a Hansal Mehta project. I immediately agreed upon the role and told my parents the next second in ecstasy.”

Scoop stars Karishma, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Deven Bhojani in lead roles.

The series follows the story of famous crime reporter Jagruti Pathak (Karishma) and chronicles how she ended up being a co-accused in a heinous crime — the murder of a senior crime reporter (Prosenjit) with the help of underworld don Chota Chetan.

Scoop will be streaming on Netflix from June 2.
