A motorcycle-borne, sunglass-sporting Akshay Kumar features as a man committed to fulfilling his dreams in the first teaser of Sarfira, a Hindi remake of Suriya’s National Award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, dropped by the makers on Tuesday.
The Sudha Kongara-directed film is slated to arrive in theatres on July 12, two months after the release of Akshay’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which also stars Tiger Shroff.
“Dream so Big, they call you Crazy! #Sarfira releasing only in cinemas on 12th July, 2024. #MaarUdi,” Akshay wrote on Instagram, sharing the teaser of Sarfira on Tuesday.
Set to the song Maar Udi from the film, the video teases Akshay’s character as a man in pursuit of his dreams. In one of the scenes, he rides a bike, opens his arms wide while smiling and leaning backwards.
The actor is seen sporting a green airport safety vest, standing with his arms crossed in front of an aircraft in another scene.
Touted as “an incredible story of chasing your dreams”, Sarfira is created by the makers of Airlift, Baby, Jai Bhim, OMG 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

Soorarai Pottru followed the story of a former Indian Air Force captain who dreamed of starting a low-cost carrier airline.
Apart from Akshay, Sarfira also stars Paresh Rawal and Radhika Madan. Helmed by National Award winning director Sudha Kongara who also directed Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru, the film is produced by Suriya, Cape of Good Films, 2D Entertainment and Abundantia Entertainment.
Soorarai Pottru is the recipient of multiple awards at the National Film Awards in 2022. While Suriya won the award in the Best Actor category, Aparna Balamurali took home the trophy for Best Actress.
