Chirpy and fresh-faced, Sara Ali Khan is now a ‘first-time experience host’ for an exclusive wellness and yoga retreat by Airbnb. She is all set to curate the two-night, three-day experience for a group of four in Goa. Post the announcement in Mumbai, Sara took some questions from t2.
How excited are you about this collaboration?
Goa has always been my sanctuary of peace and tranquillity — a place to relax, practise yoga, and reconnect with myself. Being a huge Airbnb enthusiast, I was thrilled when this opportunity came along. Staying at an Airbnb brings a unique blend of comfort and authenticity, allowing me to immerse in the local culture through thoughtfully designed spaces and experiences. Through this yoga and wellness retreat, we aim to inspire travellers to discover Goa’s serene side, where yoga and wellness take centre stage.
Have you ever attempted something like this before?
While I haven’t had the chance to go on a wellness retreat before, mindfulness and wellness are integral to my daily life. Whether it’s through yoga, meditation, or simply practising gratitude, these practices truly define who I am. That’s why I’m thrilled to be hosting my very first wellness retreat on Airbnb. I’m hopeful this will be the start of many more retreats to come.
What kind of a host is Sara Ali Khan?
Host aur dost types! I am so excited to meet the guests and spend time with them!
What are you planning for the guests?
I am so excited to welcome all the special guests to this lovely yoga and wellness retreat all thanks to Airbnb! They will get the chance to experience a yoga session hosted by me, for the very first time I am on the other side of the mat. Guests will also receive a personalised note from me, sharing my go-to wellness tips for maintaining balance amidst a busy lifestyle. They’ll have the chance to indulge in some of my favourite healthy dishes including sprouts salad, grilled fish or chicken, hummus with sauteed veggies, Palak Paneer with roti and tandoori tikkas, embark on a nature trail and unwind with rejuvenating massages.
Was there a reason why you resonated more with a wellness theme?
I think everyone who knows me, knows that I love my work and love being busy. But something that I’ve always prioritised is taking breaks to travel and practise wellness and to ensure I don’t burn out. By hosting this experience, Airbnb gave me the perfect opportunity to do all of my favourite things at one of my favourite places —Goa! Being surrounded by nature at a beautiful Airbnb, along with some wellness and yoga, nothing gets better than that and I’m hoping for a similar experience for the guests who join me.
What is holistic wellness for you?
For me, holistic wellness is about nurturing every aspect of oneself — mind, body, and soul. It’s not just about physical fitness but also finding mental clarity, emotional balance, and a deep connection with oneself. It means taking time to practise mindfulness, staying active, eating nourishing food, and surrounding myself with positivity. Whether it’s through yoga, spending time in nature, or simply unwinding with loved ones, holistic wellness is about creating harmony in all areas of life and finding joy in the journey of self-care.
How much of an impact has yoga had on how you deal with life now?
Yoga has had a profound impact on how I approach life. It’s not just a physical practice for me — it’s become a way of life that helps me stay grounded and calm, no matter what challenges come my way. Being a part of an industry that always has me on my toes, with a lot of travelling always being a part of my plans, yoga is something that has been my constant and helps me calm my thoughts and be present in the moment. It has given me a sense of balance, both mentally and emotionally, allowing me to navigate life’s ups and downs with greater ease and clarity. It’s truly transformed the way I handle everything, helping me stay centred and connected to myself.
