Amazon Prime Video has dropped the first look of Samantha Ruth Prabhu from its upcoming Indian version of Citadel, the ambitious and high-budget spy universe series created by Russo Brothers. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan will star in the series.
Samantha, whose last film release was Yashoda, is sporting a toned look in a brown leather jacket, black trousers, yellow aviator glasses and auburn hair in the image from Citadel. ‘The mission is on… we have started rolling for the Indian installment of Citadel,” read the caption from Prime Video.
The Indian version of Citadel will reunite Samantha with the director duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., with whom she had previously worked in Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead.
Russo Brothers’ Citadel is an American sci-fi drama series that is yet to arrive on Prime Video. The director duo — who steered films like Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, apart from the recent Netflix Original film The Grey Man — are collaborating with Patrick Moran on the project. Russo Brothers have directed the mothership series starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. It will kick start the Citadel spy universe and is slated to be followed by several country-specific series.
Prime Video also shared another image of Samantha and captioned, “Another pair of eyes on you.”
The director duo of Raj and DK, known for films like Go Goa Gone, Shor in the City and A Gentleman, are now ready with Farzi, starring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi, to be released on Amazon Prime Video on February 10. They took to Twitter to welcome Samantha to the world of Citadel, mentioning that filming for the series has begun.
Samantha will next be seen in the Telugu-language historical drama film Shakuntalam, which will hit the theatres on February 17.
