Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been suffering from skin pigmentation stemming from regular steroid shots that she has to take as part of her Myositis treatment, the actress said during a recent Ask Me Anything session on Instagram.
“I had to be on so much of steroids. I actually had to do a lot of steroid shots so it really, really messed up my skin, gave me a lot of pigmentation. So no, this is a filter guys,” she said, responding to a fan’s question about the secret of her “clear skin” in her recent Instagram stories.
The 36-year-old was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called Myositis, which causes chronic muscle inflammation, in October 2022. She is currently on a break from acting.
Opening up about her skin problems, Samantha mentioned that playback singer and skin care specialist Chinmayi Sripada has promised to treat her skin pigmentation and bring the glow back.
“Chinmayi is going to fix that. She has promised that she's going to make my skin glossy,” The Kushi star said with a smile. The actress also tagged Chinmayi in her story and asked, “@chinmayisripada where my glossy skin?”
Responding to a question about her next project, Samantha said, “My next project is to actually not have one.” She further went on to say, “I don’t have a plan but I know that I want to be more selective about my work…the things that can really push me out of my comfort zone. So, until I get a role like that, I’m okay.”
During the session, Samantha was also asked whether fans can expect to see her in another “full-fledged” action movie after the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise. “Yes. One thing I’m really excited about is action. I don’t know why. I’ve never been a brutal person. But I love action,” she said.
The actress admitted that shooting for the upcoming series Citadel India, an Indian adaptation of the action-thriller series starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, was “absolutely hard but fun”.
