Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s agent Honey is recruited into the global spy agency Citadel by Varun Dhawan’s Bunny in Citadel: Honey Bunny trailer, which also hints that the upcoming series may serve as a prequel to the original Prime Video show, fronted by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden.

Dropped by Prime Video on Tuesday, the two-minute-55-second-long video opens with Honey revealing to her daughter that she is a secret agent. Interestingly, Honey’s daughter is named Nadia — the name held by Priyanka’s character in the original series.

The action-packed trailer shows Honey taking down opponents single-handedly, delivering powerful punches and unleashing a relentless barrage of bullets. Intense vehicular pursuits culminate in bikes and cars overturning.

Emphasising that Citadel fights for global peace, Varun’s Bunny reveals that he joined the agency for his father, who aims to monitor the world through a potentially dangerous system capable of tracking every individual. But Honey points out how Bunny’s actions were misguided.

Even though Bunny holds his own in the fight sequences, tensions arise when he labels Honey's inclusion in the spy agency a “mistake”, causing a rift in their relationship.

Created by Raj & DK, Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian instalment of the globally acclaimed action-thriller franchise Citadel, which first premiered on Prime Video on April 28, 2023. Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra have already begun filming for the show’s second season, which will be directed by Joe Russo.

Citadel: Honey Bunny, produced by D2R Films, Amazon MGM Studios and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, will release on Prime Video on November 7.

In addition to Varun and Samantha, Citadel: Honey Bunny stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar and Kashvi Majmundar in key roles.

An Italian spin-off, Citadel: Diana, starring Matilda De Angelis, is slated to hit Prime Video on October 10. Directed by Arnaldo Catinari and developed by Alessandro Fabbri, it is also produced by the Russo brothers.
