Salman Khan has said that the five leading men of Bollywood — Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and he — will not retire anytime soon, making the new generation of stars “run for their money”.

“All of them (the younger stars) are hard-working. All are very focused. But the five of us are not going to give it up so easily. Who are these five people? Shah Rukh, Aamir, me, Akshay and Ajay. We will make them run for their money. We are not retiring anytime soon,” he said recently at a press conference for an award show.

The 57-year-old actor also took a dig at the new generation of stars for allegedly demanding high fees. “Our films also work and so we hike our fees. Seeing that, they also increase their fee even when their films are not working.”

Salman, who recently played a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer smash-hit Pathaan, said Hindi films were not working because “wrong films” were being made.

“I have been saying this for a long time that our Hindi films are not working. How will it work if you make the wrong films? Today filmmakers have a different understanding of India. They feel it’s from Andheri to Colaba. The filmmakers that I have met and interacted… they are too cool. They make that kind of content. However, Hindustan is way different. They start from the east of the railway stations,” the actor said.

Later, Salman also quipped about the possible ramifications of his remarks. “I hope my words don’t come to bite me. People shouldn’t question what kind of a film have I made as Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is releasing on April 21 and I hope everyone likes it.”
