We’re loving the long hair-and-beard look on our favourite Bollywood men. Shah Rukh Khan has shown how to do it with swag in Pathaan, and Salman Khan is following suit in next week’s big release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Here are some snapshots of the leading men who wore the long hair well.

Not just the film, Shah Rukh’s man bun and face fuzz as Pathaan have generated as much excitement. In the Siddharth Anand directorial, the 57-year-old star, who plays a spy, occasionally keeps his hair open and sometimes styles it up with a hat or pulls it into a messy bun. Co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, Shah Rukh’s comeback film after four years is still crunching numbers, streaming on Prime Video. He had earlier sported long hair in Farhan Akhtar’s action thriller Don 2 and Rakesh Roshan’s 1997 film Koyla.

Going by the songs of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman Khan is rocking the long-hair look too. Following in friend Shah Rukh’s footsteps, Salman sports a beard and long unkempt hair, which is sometimes tied into a bun. The actor had also aced the long hair style in Tere Naam and Veer years ago.

Salman Khan fans have been raving over his new look ever since the film’s theatrical teaser dropped along with the release of Pathaan in January, followed by the two songs Jee Rahe The Hum and Naiyo Lagda. Directed by Farhad Samji, the 2023 Eid release has a stellar cast of Pooja Hedge, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Siddharth Nigam, Raghav Juyal, Jassie Gill, Daggubati Venkatesh, Bhumika Chawla and Jagapathi Babu.

Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha

To play the titular role in Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan sported long unruly hair and a beard for a part of the film. In Advait Chandran’s official adaptation of Forrest Gump, Aamir’s Laal goes for a run and then keeps running, crossing over states. Since he’s mostly on the road, Laal’s hair and beard grow out even as a bunch of people take an interest in him and run along with him.

Akshay Kumar in Ram Setu

Akshay Kumar did not go as far as the three Khans but definitely moved away from his close-cropped hairstyle as an archaeologist in Ram Setu. Some strands of grey and white in a mop of slightly longish wavy black hair, paired with golden-rimmed glasses and a clean face, suited Akshay well. The look lent him the distinct air of a serious researcher-academic who is racing against time to piece together an age-old puzzle.
