Sonakshi Sinha and Anil Kapoor performed the latter’s signature fist-in-air dance step from Ram Lakhan while Honey Singh turned DJ for the night in a new video of Sonakshi and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding reception dropped by the actress on Wednesday.
The video, which features a teary-eyed Rekha, shows Sonakshi’s industry colleagues Siddharth, Aditi Rao Hydari and Rajkummar Rao dancing the night away.
"Shaadi ASMR. Feel it, Enjoy it… like we did. Big shout out to all our friends, families and teams for giving us the PERFECT wedding. Sona aur Zaheer ki shaadi… ek EPICCCCCCC PARTY toh banti haiiiii bosssss," wrote Sonakshi on Instagram, sharing the video on Wednesday.
The video also features Huma Qureshi as the host. Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, are seen hugging and kissing the bride in the video.
Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Kajol, Aayush Sharma, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Reema Kagti, Padmini Kolhapure, Saqib Saleem, Mudassar Aziz, Saira Banu, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Ali Abbas Zafar, Raveena Tandon, Anees Bazmee, Vidya Balan, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Tabu also attended the event.
Sonakshi looked gorgeous in a red Banarasi saree and kundan jewellery at her reception, while Zaheer sported a white jacket and matching trousers. A white gajra adorning her sleek bun enhanced the visual appeal of Sonakshi’s ensemble.
Preity Zinta, Tanishaa Mukerji, Huma, and Saba Pataudi reacted to Sonakshi’s video on Instagram. “Awwww. So happy for you two. Welcome to the married club, my darling. Wish you both so much love, happiness, respect, togetherness & laughter as you embark on a new journey together as a couple. I’m sad we missed the wedding, so when Gene & I see you guys next we want a BIG PARTY Much love … muaah,” wrote Preity.
The grand reception was preceded by a civil marriage at Sonakshi’s sea-facing Bandra West apartment in Mumbai on June 23. For her wedding, Sonakshi wore a white embroidered sari, while Zaheer twinned with her in a white embroidered kurta.
In her wedding post, Sonakshi revealed that she and Zaheer had been in a relationship for seven years before they tied the knot. "On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017), in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs, leading up to this moment, where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods, we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope, and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever," wrote the actress alongside the carousel on Instagram.
As per media reports, Sonakshi and Zaheer first met on the sets of Notebook (2017). The couple collaborated for the music video of the song Blockbuster, which was released in September 2022. Later, they co-starred in the comedy-drama Double XL (2022).
Sonakshi last appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s maiden web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The period drama is currently streaming on Netflix.
The 37-year-old actress will next be seen in Aditya Sarpotdar’s upcoming horror comedy Kakuda, alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. Kakuda is slated to premiere on ZEE5 on July 12.
