“It’s time to relive their 'Pyar Bhari Dosti' as #MainePyarKiya re-releases on 23rd August 2024 in selected @pvrpictures and @cinepolisindia theaters,” the production house wrote on Instagram, sharing a poster featuring scenes from the romcom.

Fans flooded the comments section with their excitement over the film hitting the theatres again. “I’m running to grab the tickets,” one of them wrote, while some others requested the production house to re-release Salman’s other films like Hum Saath - Saath Hain and Hum Aapke Hain Koun.

Maine Pyar Kiya revolves around two childhood friends Prem (Salman) and Suman (Bhagyashree) who fall in love as adults. Their love faces challenges when Suman’s father, who works for Prem’s wealthy family, disapproves of their relationship due to class differences. Determined to prove his worth, Prem leaves home to earn his own living and win Suman’s father’s approval.

Also starring Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Rajeev Verma, Dilip Joshi and Laxmikant Berde, the romantic drama hit theatres on December 29, 1989. It was directed by Sooraj Barjatya and produced by Tarachand Barjatya.

The soundtrack of Maine Pyar Kiya was composed by Raamlaxman. Featuring the voices of Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, songs such as Dil Deewana, Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate, Kabootar Ja Ja Ja and Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali went on to become instant hits.
