Veteran actress Saira Banu recently shared a video featuring herself and her husband, the late Dilip Kumar, reminiscing about the days bygone when they used to celebrate Eid together.

“We were so strongly rooted in our Indian culture and customs that we didn’t need to be told what the festivals were about. We slipped easily into the cosmopolitan social milieu of Mumbai. We ushered in the month of Ramadan, observed the fasts, and prayed as we should. We looked forward to Eid with eagerness to invite our friends to join in our celebration of the day, ” she wrote in a heartfelt note posted alongside the video.

Saira walked down memory lane with fond reminiscences about her marriage to Dilip Kumar and enjoying Eid with family, acquaintances and friends from Bollywood. The video shared by her shows glimpses of Saira and Dilip’s wedding day and weaves moments of them celebrating Eid with Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Salman Khan, Kamal Hassan, Sunil Dutt and Yash Raj Chopra.

In her post, Saira went on to mention how their home was an open arena for everyone, teeming with visitors without restrictions at all hours. “The air would be filled with the aroma of biryani and kheer getting ready in the kitchen, and the visitors would overflow from the lobby and drawing room into the garden. Our celebrations were never complete without music and singing by a classical maestro,” she fondly recalled.

“I have a wealth of memories that will never fade away. Suffice it to say, thank you, dear friends, for the good times we enjoyed and continue to stay in our hearts. May we be blessed with peaceful times and a life full of good health and harmony. Happy Eid, ” she signed off, wishing everybody on the occasion of Eid.

Saira and Dilip tied the knot on October 11, 1966, and remained together until the legendary actor's passing on July 7, 2021. They were an iconic couple, renowned for their on-screen and off-screen chemistry.
