Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega and American singer-actress Sabrina Carpenter try to kill each other in a gory but comical music video of the latter’s new song Taste, a part of her latest album Short n’ Sweet, dropped on Friday.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the three-minute-18-second video begins with Carpenter singing a haunting lullaby: “Rock-a-bye baby, snug in your bed, Right now you are sleeping, and soon you’ll be dead.”

She then sneaks into her ex-boyfriend’s house, intending to attack his new girlfriend, portrayed by Jenna Ortega, with a machete. However, upon striking, she discovers it’s a trap. Ortega’s character suddenly emerges from hiding and opens fire, shooting Carpenter and causing her to fall off the balcony and get impaled on the fence below.

A gory showdown ensues between the two women, who repeatedly come back from the dead. The fight involves weapons, hospital defibrillators, voodoo dolls, and Ortega butchering and cutting out Carpenter’s arm. It culminates in a heated makeout session by the pool, only for Ortega to accidentally kill their shared boyfriend with a chainsaw. The two women share a kiss at the end of the music video, putting an end to their fight.

At the funeral, the women realise they’re better off as friends. “Very insecure,” Ortega says about their lover, to which Carpenter replies, “Very insecure! You kill me.”

Sabrina Carpenter rose to fame for her hit tracks Please Please Please and Espresso, which went viral on social media earlier this year. The singer is set to kick off her Short n’ Sweet tour with a concert in Ohio on September 23.

Meanwhile, actress Jenna Ortega recently shared screen with Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton in the horror comedy film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, slated to release on September 6 in India. The actress is also gearing up for the second season of Netflix horror series Wednesday which is reportedly slated to release in 2025.
