Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 has finally wrapped filming after facing a significant delay caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike, the film’s lead actor Ryan Reynolds announced on Wednesday, thanking the cast, crew and director Shawn Levy in a note with his signature humour.
“The suit hides the blood. Also sweat… But today, with ‘Deadpool’ wrapping, it’s mostly tears. A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew of our film who battled wind, rain, strikes and @thehughjackman all under the stalwart leadership of @slevydirect. I got to make a movie with my closest pals, and that doesn’t happen very often. See ya July 26th… ,” the actor wrote, alongside a picture of the lower half of Deadpool’s spandex-clad body.
Originally scheduled for a May 3, 2024 release, Deadpool 3 faced delays due to the industry-wide SAG-AFTRA strike last year. Now, the highly anticipated film is set to hit theatres on July 26, marking Deadpool's official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The upcoming movie promises to be a reunion for Reynolds and Jackman, who shared the screen in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Fans are not only eager to see the chemistry between the two actors once again, but also curious to know how Wolverine comes back to life after the iconic superhero’s death in Logan (2017).
