A sequel to S. S. Rajamouli’s 2022 blockbuster RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, is currently in the works, revealed the film’s screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad during an interview with a Telugu news channel on July 9..

Vijayendra, who is also Rajamouli’s father, said the RRR sequel was likely to be directed by a Hollywood filmmaker under Rajamouli’s supervision.

RRR achieved significant acclaim as one of the most prominent Indian films of 2022. The movie minted over Rs 1,236 crore gross worldwide in all languages. It also bagged several international awards, notably an Oscar for Best Original Song.

Vijayendra also revealed that Rajamouli will soon establish his own production house, which will be managed by his son S.S. Karthikeya. He also said Rajamouli's upcoming project, tentatively titled SSMB 29, will be an adventure film starring Mahesh Babu, reminiscent of the Indiana Jones series. The shooting for SSMB 29 is scheduled to commence in December.

The screenwriter also shed light on Rajamouli's subsequent venture following the Mahesh Babu film. He said the movie would be based on the epic Mahabharata without disclosing any specific details.
