Rohit Shetty promises a Ramayana-like saga featuring his team of modern-day cops — Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff and Akshay Kumar — in the four-minute-58-second-long trailer of Singham Again, dropped on Monday.
Also featuring Kareena Kapoor, whose character Avni gets abducted by Arjun Kapoor’s Ravan-like antagonist, the trailer introduces Singham’s fellow cops as contemporary characters from the epic.
The trailer kicks off with Singham and his wife Avni’s (Kareena Kapoor) son expressing his disbelief at the tale of Lord Ram travelling to Lanka to save Sita. In the subsequent scenes, we see Avni getting abducted by Arjun Kapoor’s crime syndicate, which is involved in trafficking toxic medical waste, in a bid to weaken Singham.
What began as a mission to expose the criminals turns into a desperate effort to save Kareena’s Avni, with Deepika Padukone’s Officer Shakti, Tiger Shroff’s ACP Satya, Ranveer Singh’s Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s ATS chief Sooryavanshi joining forces.
Filled with high-octane action sequences, the trailer is interspersed with scenes depicting Lord Ram and Hanuman from the Ramayana, promising an actioner with a hint of Indian mythology.
Singham Again, the fifth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, is a sequel to the 2014 film Singham Returns. It is slated to hit theatres on November 1 and is likely to lock horns with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
