Karan Johar's Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani performed well at the domestic box office during its first weekend, minting Rs 35 crore nett over Saturday and Sunday.
Opening with Rs 11.1 crore nett on July 28, the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer collected Rs 16 crore nett on Saturday, followed by Rs 19 crore nett on Sunday. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 46 crore nett.
The romantic drama revolves around Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia), who fall in love despite belonging to different backgrounds. Rocky is a flamboyant Punjabi munda, while Rani is a liberal Bengali journalist. How they manage to win over their prospective in-laws and earn their consent for marriage forms the rest of the story.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who watched Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani recently, called it Karan’s best work so far. Speaking highly of the film’s cast and crew, Anurag took to social media to say that he was so captivated by the film that he watched it not once but twice.

Also it’s the second KJo film that I bought the tickets for that too twice, and sending everyone that trusts me to go see. Some super writing , a top of form @ranveersingh, ever so brilliant @aliaabhatt and there sparkling chemistry . After a long time I loved the dialogue writing in mainstream Hindi film where people talk like they talk,” the Kennedy director wrote on Instagram.
