It’s glitz, glamour, grandeur and unabashed celebration of love in the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani teaser that shows a sari-clad Alia Bhatt romancing Ranveer Singh in the snow — scenes reminiscent of the ’90s and early 2000 hits from filmmaker Karan Johar.
Dropped by the makers on Tuesday, the one-minute-16-second-long teaser promises a wholesome family entertainment. Karan, who is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai this year, seems to have gone all out in terms of scale in his latest venture.
“Your first glimpse into the ‘prem kahaani’ filled with pyaar, parivaar and emotions beshumaar!❤️ Presenting the teaser of #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahaani, a film by Karan Johar in his 25th anniversary year, in cinemas 28th July, 2023,” the official Twitter handle of Dharma Productions wrote on Twitter, unveiling the teaser.
Shah Rukh Khan, who was part of Karan’s debut feature film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), penned a note for the filmmaker alongside the teaser. “Wow Karan, 25 years as a filmmaker. You’ve come a long way baby!! Your father and my friend Tom Uncle must be seeing this from heaven and feeling extremely happy and proud,” the Pathaan actor wrote.
“Have always told you to make more and more films because we need the ethereal magic of love brought to life… like only you can do. #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahaani teaser is looking beautiful. Love you and best wishes to the cast and crew,” he added.
The teaser of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani doesn’t have a single dialogue. Instead, the song Tum Kya Mile plays in the background in Arijit Singh’s voice. The lack of dialogues doesn’t take away from the excitement though. There’s a lot to take in — Ranveer Singh as Rocky and Alia Bhatt as Rani win us over with their flamboyance and charm. The teaser shows the two falling for each other and ends with their eventual conflict.
Jaya Bachchan also features in the teaser. We get a glimpse of Shabana Azmi reading a book, while Dharmendra exudes an effusive charm. There are visuals of a grand Durga Puja, too, in the teaser.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also features Churni Ganguly, Tota Roy Choudhury and Namit Das in important roles. The film will hit theatres on July 28.
