Filmmaker Karan Johar has shared an exclusive look of Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, clad in Manish Malhotra clothes and styled by Eka Lakhani, from their first look test for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Sharing the photo on Instagram on Friday, Karan wrote, “Our very first look test of the film! When we were locking looks for ROCKY and RANI.”
In the photo, Alia looks stunning in an ombre sari paired with a sleeveless red blouse. Golden hoop earrings, kohl-rimmed eyes and a black bindi completed her ethnic look. Ranveer, on his part, looks cool in a printed red shirt.
Alia plays the role of Rani, a journalist from a Bengali family, in the romantic drama, while Ranveer plays a Punjabi man named Rocky. The duo gave a glimpse of their chemistry in the recently released song Tum Kya Mile, sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. Inspired by the late Yash Chopra, the music video is filled with shots of the stunning Kashmir valley and Alia in colourful chiffon saris.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks Karan Johar's comeback to filmmaking seven years after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), which was headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Also featuring Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is set to hit the theatres on July 28.
