Imtiaz Ali’s 2011 film Rockstar stars Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles. It follows a naive college student’s journey towards becoming a troubled rock star. Ranbir plays the rockstar whose tumultuous love affair with Nargis’ Heer inspires him to hit the creative note and yet eventually takes him down the path of self-destruction.

Jab We Met (2007), another Imtiaz Ali film, follows a chance encounter between Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) and Geet (Kareena Kapoor) after the latter misses her train. Despite having very different personality traits, the duo travel together and face a series of adventures. They fall for each other as they discover what they really want in life during their journey.

Released in 1995, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is Aditya Chopra’s directorial debut and marks a milestone in Shah Rukh and Kajol’s career. The film was previously screened during Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) Nostalgia Film Festival in February. Shah Rukh’s Raj and Kajol’s Simran meet each other for the first time in Europe, but it isn't love at first sight for them. Things change dramatically when Simran moves to India for an arranged marriage.

Karan Johar’s 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani revolves around the love story of dashing Punjabi guy Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Bengali journalist Rani (Alia Bhatt). They try to bring their respective families in spite of cultural barriers, patriarchy and societal pressure. The film also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in important roles. It marks the Bollywood debut of Tota Roy Chowdhury.

In 2015’s Tamasha, Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) and Tara’s (Deepika Padukone) chance meeting in Corsica leads to the two of them falling in love. Years later, Tara searches for Ved in Delhi and gets to know about his stifled, monotonous life, prompting Ved to confront his suppressed creativity and rediscover his true self.
