Veteran Hollywood actor Robert De Niro is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming limited series Zero Day, American entertainment magazine Variety has reported.
State of Emergency helmer Lesli Linka Glatter is attached to the six-episode conspiracy thriller as executive producer and director. Zero Day is created by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim along with Pulitzer Prize winner Michael S. Schmidt.
An eight-time Emmy nominee, Glatter has directed hit shows like Homeland, Mad Men, Twin Peaks, Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife and The Walking Dead.
According to Variety, the official logline of the series reads, “Zero Day asks the question on everyone’s mind — how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?”
De Niro is known for films like Raging Bull, The Godfather Part 2, The Dear Hunter, Taxi Driver, Heat, Casino and The Irishman. The 79-year-old Academy Award winner is considered one of the greatest film actors of all time.
De Niro will next be seen in the upcoming comedy film About my Father, set to stream on Lionsgate from May 26. The Goodfellas actor will also star in Martin Scorsese’s western crime drama film Killers of the Flower Moon alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
