Actor Riteish Deshmukh vied for the role of Phulera sachiv in the upcoming third season of the Prime Video comedy-drama series Panchayat in a new promotional video he shared on Monday.
“Toh bas samajh lo, Phulera ko ek naya Sachiv mil hi gaya (Just know, Phulera has got a new Sachiv now),” the 45-year-old actor wrote alongside the video shared on Instagram.
The video begins with Riteish reading a script on the terrace before he is called for an interview with Pradhan Ji from the series. As Panchayat’s theme song plays in the background, the Housefull actor tries to sell himself for the role of sachiv.
The Dhamaal actor asks Pradhan to blindly select him for the role because there can be no one more homely than him. He also says that he is a simple man unlike Abhishek, played by Jitendra Kumar, and that he can adjust in any kind of house.
Recently, Prime Video dropped a poster of the upcoming instalment of the rural comedy drama and announced that it will be streaming from May 28. The poster features Jitendra Kumar’s Abhishek Tripathi, Neena Gupta’s Manju Devi and other cast members with a shocked expression on their faces.
Also featuring Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles, the series follows the journey of an engineering graduate named Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar, who ends up working at a panchayat office in a remote village after being unable to find a job of his calibre.
Panchayat won the inaugural best web series (OTT) Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November last year.
Season 2 of Panchayat hit Amazon Prime Video in May 2022.
