Actor Riteish Deshmukh taught his kids how to make eco-friendly Ganesha idols using mud clay this Ganesh Chaturthi, upholding the Deshmukh family tradition, shows a video he shared on Monday.
“Deshmukh household ritual of making Eco friendly Ganeshas at home and a respectful visarjan. Kids made their own Bappa and each Bappa was special,” the 45-year-old actor wrote alongside the video.
The video shows Riteish sitting on the ground and teaching his sons, Riaan and Rahyl, to carve the idol of Lord Ganesha with the help of mud clay. It also offers glimpses of their Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at home featuring Riteish’s wife Genelia. At the end of the video, we can see the Deshmukh family immersing the idol in a small fibre tank in order to adhere to their tradition.
Bollywood celebrities took to the comments section and showered them with love. “Absolutely adorable. Sweetest way of celebrations,” Shreya Ghoshal wrote. “Sooooooo cute!! Best way of celebrating,” Kriti Sanon commented. While Tahira Kashyap wrote, “Too adorable,” Rhea Chakraborty added, “Too sweeet.”
Last year, Riteish, Genelia and their children sculpted a recycled Ganesh idol using scrap. “Every year we make our own Eco friendly Ganesha. Riaan & Rahyl insisted we make a recycled Bappa from scrap!!! We had a great time making this together… #scrapture #sculpture @geneliad thank you @arzankhambatta,” he captioned a video showing his family creating the recycled idols.
Besides the Deshmukh family, Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekhaa also celebrated the festival in an eco-friendly manner. The Stree 2 actor shared a picture of their handcrafted idol which was adorned with vibrant flowers and a red veil. “Meet our super eco-friendly Ganpati ji. Made by us at home. Ganpati Bappa Morya,” he captioned the picture.
Last year, Rajkummar posted about their environment-friendly approach to Ganesh Chaturthi.
Riteish recently starred in Kookie Gulati’s crime thriller Visfot alongside Fardeen Khan. This year, he also featured in the horror comedy Kakuda with Sonakshi Sinha and in the web series Pill, which hit JioCinema on July 12. He will be next seen in Raid 2, which is currently in production.
