Munjya helmer Aditya Sarpotdar’s new horror-comedy Kakuda starring Riteish Deshmukh and Sonakshi Sinha hit ZEE5 on Thursday, a day prior to its July 12 release, the streamer announced on Instagram.
“Kakuda apni marzi se aata hai, even we couldn't stop him! It's 7:15 pm, are your doors open? Kakuda has arrived! #Kakuda streaming now, only on #ZEE5 (Kakuda comes when she wants to, even we couldn't stop him! It's 7:15 pm, are your doors open? Kakuda has arrived! #Kakuda streaming now, only on #ZEE5),” ZEE5 wrote alongside a poster of the film.
Kakuda revolves around a newly married woman, played by Sonakshi, who seeks help from Riteish’s ghost hunter to save her husband, portrayed by Saqib Salim, from a malevolent spirit.
Soon after the announcement by the streamer, Sonakshi took to her Instagram handle and shared the news with her fans. “Kakuda jaldi aa gaya… streaming now on @zee5!! Horror-comedy night tonight?? Psst… i promise you double trouble, watch the movie if you want to know what i mean,” she wrote alongside her pictures from a photoshoot.
Touted as ‘a freakishly spooky comedy’, Kakuda is Sonakshi’s second film of this year following Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Backed by Sam Bahadur and Pihu producer Ronnie Screwvala, the film is Aditya Sarpotdar’s second horror-comedy of the year following Munjya’s success. Munjya, starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh, amassed Rs 128 crore at the global box office, emerging as the fifth highest grossing Hindi film of the year.
