Filmmaker Sandeep Singh on Tuesday unveiled the first-look poster of Rishab Shetty as the Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj for his upcoming historical epic film Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, slated to hit theatres globally on January 21, 2027.

“Our Honour & Privilege, Presenting the Epic Saga of India’s Greatest Warrior King – The Pride of Bharat: #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj,” the 43-year-old director wrote alongside the poster.

Mentioning that the film will narrate the “untold story” of Shivaji Maharaj, Sandeep added, “This isn’t just a film – it’s a battle cry to honor a warrior who fought against all odds, challenged the might of the Mighty Mughal empire, and forged a legacy that can never be forgotten.”

Manoj Bajpayee, who will be next seen in Kanu Behl’s Despatch, took to the comments section and congratulated the actor.

Sandeep is well-known for backing popular films like Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom and Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will mark Sandeep’s debut as a director.

Rishab is currently shooting for Kantara A Legend Chapter-1, slated to hit theatres on October 2 next year. The prequel film is written and directed by Rishab, who bagged the National Award for best actor last year for his role in the 2022 blockbuster.
