Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni said her niece Raha is a ‘mini’ version of Rishi Kapoor on the late actor’s 72nd birth anniversary on Wednesday.

“Happy Birthday Papa. How I wish you were here celebrating your special day with both your grand daughters. Your ‘bandari’ Sam is all grown up and baby Raha is the cutest – She is a mini you. Papa I will always cherish the memories we got to share. We miss you so much, and our love for you only deepens with each passing day,” she wrote Riddhima on her Instagram story alongside a throwback picture of Rishi and her daughter Samara.

The post, along with several others, was re-shared by Neetu Kapoor.

Rishi tied the knot with Neetu in January 1980. They welcomed their first child, daughter Riddhima, on September 15 that year. Ranbir was born two years later on September 28, 1982.

Riddhima married Delhi-based industrialist Bharat Sahni on January 25, 2006. They have a daughter, Samara, born on March 23, 2011.

Ranbir is married to actress Alia Bhatt. The couple had tied the knot after five years of dating on April 14, 2022, in a traditional ceremony in Mumbai. Later that year, on November 6, Alia gave birth to their daughter Raha.

Bharat Sahni also commemorated his father-in-law's birth anniversary by sharing a family picture featuring him, Riddhima, Neetu, Samara, Rishi and Ranbir. His caption reads, “Happy birthday, Papa. We miss you.”

Producer-director Rakesh Roshan also paid tribute by sharing a picture of himself, Rishi, and Jeetendra at an event. “Chintu, gone but never forgotten, your spirit still lives in our hearts,” Rakesh wrote alongside the picture on Instagram.

Rishi had made his acting debut with his father Raj Kapoor's 1970 film Mera Naam Joker. He later starred in Bollywood blockbusters like Rafoo Chakkar (1975), Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Kapoor & Sons (2016). He was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018 and passed away on April 30, 2020.

At the time of his death, Rishi was working on Hitesh Bhatia’s Sharmaji Namkeen alongside Juhi Chawla. In January 2021, it was announced that Paresh Rawal would complete Rishi Kapoor’s unfinished portions of the film, which was released on Prime Video on March 31, 2022.
