Mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson-sidekick Morty Smith, voiced by two new actors whose names have been kept under wraps, embark on new misadventures in the new trailer for the seventh season of the adult animated science fiction sitcom Rick and Morty.

Dropped on Monday by Adult Swim, the one-minute-45-second-long trailer begins with Rick transforming into a leg, a call back to Pickle Rick, and brings back fan-favourite characters like Birdperson and Gearhead. The Sanchez-Smith family gets into new situations ranging from Rick finding the version of him that killed his wife to Jerry having a ‘rake situation’.

There is no dearth of the bizarre in the new season as Morty is shown licking the inside of a half-machine-half-gorilla character’s nostril. The trailer comes to a close with Rick saying the catchphrase, “Rick and Morty, we are back, baby.”

The new trailer comes as a relief for Rick and Morty fans as it puts to rest the speculation that the show might not be continued after co-creator Justin Roiland’s dismissal from it following domestic violence charges against him earlier this year. Roiland lent his voice for both Rick and Morty from Season 1 to Season 6.

Rick and Morty Season 7, which will feature 10 episodes, is set to premiere on October 15 when the names behind Rick and Morty’s voices will be revealed.
