The screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Wednesday night in Mumbai glittered with Bollywood celebrities, bringing together industry heavyweights like Rekha, Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt apart from the cast of the Netflix period drama series. Here’s a look.
Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussa and the women of Heeramandi pointed at director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the man behind the epic saga of love and freedom. The show will premiere on Netflix on May 1.
Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sonakshi Sinha and Manisha Koirala looked stunning in different shades of green and black. Flanked by them was Fardeen in a sleek black suit and black shades.
Rekha greeted Bhansali during the screening of Heeramandi, which delves deep into tales of love and betrayal experienced by courtesans in Lahore’s chief redlight district before Independence.
Salman Khan turned heads with his goofy fashion sense as he sported white trousers printed with anime characters from Dragon Ball Z and Demon Slayer. Alia Bhatt twirled in an ivory-and-peach sharara set and minimal accessories.
Ananya Panday gave a modern spin to her kurta-clad look with matching trousers and a floor-sweeping dupatta. Aditya Roy Kapur, rumoured to be her beau, was also present in a well-tailored black blazer, a blue shirt and black chinos.
Both Rashmika Mandanna and Karan Johar attended the event. While Rashmika looked sharp in a pastel green anarkali suit in keeping with the theme of the web series, Karan went for a classic black tuxedo look with matching moccasins.
A beard-sporting Vicky Kaushal stole the show in a textured black kurta. Offering a striking contrast, Mrunal Thakur appeared in a white sari and a silver blouse.
