Taylor Zakhar Perez’ Alex Claremont-Diaz and Nicholas Galitzine’s Prince Henry share a crackling chemistry in the steamy trailer of Red, White & Royal Blue, a queer romance drama based on Casey McQuiston’s bestselling novel of the same name.
The two-minute-11-second trailer, dropped on Friday, looks faithful to the book’s plot — an enemies-turned-lovers tale of US President’s son Alex and Prince Henry of England.
The trailer starts with the cake fight moment between the protagonists which becomes national news and results in them being forced to live in close proximity and become friends. As the frenemies start to know each other better, the friction between the two sparks a romance that threatens two nations.
We also get a glimpse of their first kiss outside Alex’s New Year Party and their hidden romance in the Prince’s palace.
Uma Thurman, who plays the US President Ellen Claremont, aces a Southern accent in the romantic comedy helmed by Tony Award-winning playwright Matthew López. The President’s sharp-tongued deputy chief of staff Zahra Bankston, played by Sarah Shahi, also makes an appearance in the trailer.
Also starring Clifton Collins Jr, Stephen Fry, Rachel Hilson, and Ellie Bamber, Red, White & Royal Blue premieres on Prime Video on August 11.
