Dwayne Johnson’s Callum Drift teams up with Chris Evans’ Jack O’Malley to rescue an abducted Santa Claus, played by JK Simmons, in the trailer of upcoming action adventure film Red One, dropped by the makers on Tuesday.

The two-minute-48-second-long trailer opens with JK Simmons’ Nick aka Santa Claus working out at the gym under Dwayne’s guidance. However, Nick gets kidnapped one night, leading to chaos in the North Pole. Dwayne, who plays the head of North Pole Security, must embark on a journey to find Nick before Christmas arrives.

In order to rescue Nick, Dwayne teams up with Evans’ O’Malley, who is known as “the best tracker in the world”. However, O’Malley’s approach to the rescue operation is not as serious as Dwayne’s, which often leads to a conflict between the two. Their contrasting personalities add fun and humour to their mission.

On their way, Dwayne and Evans encounter several fantastical creatures residing in the North Pole, most of whom Dwayne takes on single-handedly. While they keep searching for Santa Claus in the icy caves and beaches on the other side of the world, Lucy Liu’s character says, “We need to prepare for the possibility of no Christmas.”

The trailer is filled with witty one-liners and banters, and even hilarious nods to Captain America, a character Evans plays in MCU films. Reindeers have a crush on Dwayne, giant polar bears wreak havoc and a ghastly snowman attacks the protagonists in the video.

Also starring Kiernan Shipka and Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Red One is directed by Jumanji helmer Jake Kasdan. The film marks the director’s third collaboration with Dwayne.

“We both LOVE Christmas, and took Christmas lore and Christmas legend, shook it up and flipped it on its head. Just like we wanted to do to each other. Ladies and gents, enjoy our new trailer for RED ONE and experience Christmas like never before. Only in theaters November 15th,” Dwayne wrote alongside the trailer on Instagram.

Red One is slated to hit theatres on November 15.
