Over the past year, there has been a slow but steady resurgence of K-dramas that are entertaining, light-hearted and all kinds of fun. Sounds like the perfect mix for a binge-watch? Well then you will surely love Wedding Impossible! It ticks all our boxes for a series to unwind with and has just the right amount of nuance while keeping things uncomplicated.

Na Ah-jung (played by Jeon Jeong-seo), a talented actress, finds herself in a sudden predicament when she meets her best friend, Lee Do-han (played by Kim Do-wan) after five years. The catch? Ah-jung is to become Do-Han's wife, not for love but to shield a family secret. Initially hesitant, Ah-jung eventually accepts to help her family and her friend. This is, however, much to the dismay of Do-han’s younger brother, Lee Ji-han (played by Moon Sang-min). Ji-Han sees the marriage as a direct threat to his own carefully laid plans for the future of LJ Group, the conglomerate his and Do-han’s grandfather owns. Ji-han jumps through hoops to convince Ah-jung to reject his brother but eventually starts falling for her. The fake marriage trope takes a delightful detour, with Ah-jung finding herself entangled with the wrong (or perhaps the right?) brother.

Wedding Impossible excels in its fun subversion of generic tropes. While the plot might not break new ground, its execution is refreshingly witty. The series keeps you guessing as hidden secrets and family pressures come to light, all sprinkled with well-timed comedy. The series is comfortable in its predictability and instead focuses on being entertaining. The central trio of actors delivers engaging performances that are enough to keep you hooked as well. Jeon Jeong-seo embodies Ah-jung's spunk and vulnerability, while Moon Sang-min's Ji-han is a captivating blend of ambition and hidden vulnerability. Kim Do-wan, as the quiet and enigmatic Do-han, adds a layer of intrigue, although his initial mindlessness might not make him stand out among the others.

If you're looking for a lighthearted escape with a touch of intrigue, this is a delightful addition to your K-drama watchlist. We totally recommend it if you want a fun and entertaining watch!
