Sofia Boutella’s Kora and her resistance group face off against the Imperium, led by the resurgent Admiral Atticus Noble, in the action-packed trailer of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver.
Dropped by Netflix on Monday, the two-minute-42-second-long trailer is packed with high-octane action scenes showing Kora training her newly-formed army comprising Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Ray Fisher as Darrian Bloodaxe, Charlie Hunnam as Kai and a robot named Jimmy that has been voiced by Anthony Hopkins.
As Kora and her soldiers prepare for the imminent war, Djimon Hounsou’s Titus gives a powerful speech. “You all are here because there is nothing to return to,” he says, explaining their situation in a few words. Titus’s speech and Kora’s willpower set the tone for the final showdown between the rebels and the Imperium. We also see Jimmy the robot chopping down enemies and Kora’s close combat skills in the trailer.
Also starring Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera and Ed Skrein, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 19.
The first part of Snyder’s two-part epic space saga, Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire, received criticism after its release on December 21 last year despite reaching the top of Netflix’s charts. Based loosely on Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, the story revolves around a young woman named Kora, who leads a peaceful life on the farming moon of Veldt. However, the peace is disrupted when alien ships from Motherworld breach their moon. When the colony of people find themselves threatened day by day, Kora embarks on a journey to assemble a group of fighters willing to defend their home at the edge of the galaxy.
