“Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon — a two-part movie event — begins this December,” the official Twitter (now X) account of the streamer posted on Tuesday.

The first part of the film, titled Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire, is scheduled to debut on Netflix on December 22. The sequel, titled Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver, will premiere on April 19, 2024.

The three-minute-29-second-long teaser, a blend of intense action and striking cinematography, consists of every possible trope imaginable in a space fiction — a warrior princess destined to put an end to a conflict, space vessels firing laser shots at a village caught off-guard, intelligent robots, warriors using glowing red laser swords, a flying creature reminiscent of a pegasus, and numerous slow-motion sequences.

Kingsman: The Secret Service actress Sofia Boutella plays Kora, an enigmatic warrior, in Rebel Moon. Kora is safeguarding a colony situated at the fringes of the galaxy from the Imperial forces of Regent Balisarius (Ed Skrein) and the formidable military of the Mother World. To counter this tyrannical dominion, Kora assembles a group of unconventional individuals from neighbouring planets, forming an alliance to thwart the oppressive regime.

The ensemble cast includes prominent names like Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim), Djimon Hounsou (Shazam), Michiel Huisman (The Haunting of Hill House), Bae Doona (Sense8), Ray Fisher (Justice League), Staz Nair (Supergirl) and Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins.
