Netflix has released the trailer for the director’s cut of Rebel Moon, set to premiere globally on August 2. This version promises a more violent and gorier iteration of Zack Snyder’s space epic.

In this extended cut, the narrative follows a tranquil colony on a distant moon, threatened by the oppressive forces of Regent Balisarius. Kora (Sofia Boutella) is a mysterious outsider who becomes the colony’s beacon of hope. She is tasked with recruiting skilled fighters to join her in a seemingly impossible resistance against the Motherworld.

Kora gathers a diverse group of warriors, including rebels, outcasts and war orphans, all driven by a desire for redemption and vengeance. As the entire Realm’s forces loom over the unsuspecting moon, a new band of heroes rises.

“Prepare to witness Zack Snyder's true vision. Rebel Moon - The Director's Cut premieres August 2,” Netflix wrote on X while sharing the trailer.

Rebel Moon initially dropped on Netflix in two parts — Part One: A Child of Fire in December 2023 and Part Two: The Scargiver in April 2024. Despite mixed reviews, both parts occupied the top position among movies trending on Netflix in the debut week and grabbed the top spots on the streamer for several weeks.

For the Director’s Cut, Snyder has rebranded the two parts as Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness. The films feature an ensemble cast including Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Alfonso Herrera, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Rhian Rees, Jena Malone, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang and Staz Nair.
