Shraddha Kapoor in Aashiqui 2

My favourite Shraddha Kapoor film has to be Chhichhore, with Sushant Singh Rajput. She was amazing as Maya and she will continue to rule our hearts through that character. I also loved her in Stree opposite Rajkummar Rao. It was a character she played with grace and subtlety, which is rarely seen on screen. I really can’t wait to watch her in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar opposite Ranbir Kapoor! (My favourite Shraddha Kapoor film is... March 6)

My favourite Shraddha Kapoor film is definitely the musical drama Aashiqui 2 (2013), a remake of A Star is Born. She delivered the most stellar performance of her career in this film. She gracefully portrayed the character of a small-town girl, Aarohi, who aspires to become a singer. Her sizzling chemistry opposite the charming Aditya Roy Kapur (Rahul Jaykar), especially in the jacket scene, was truly special. Aarohi’s support and love for the man who filled her monochromatic life with myriad colours was unparalleled and he too wished for her happiness even if it meant ending his own life.

The last bit of the movie still gives me goosebumps... when a fan asks for her autograph she says, “Aarohi Rahul Jaykar”, declaring her unfulfilled desire to marry him. Suddenly, it starts to rain and the same couple who asked for the autograph share a moment she had once experienced with Rahul. Till date, this film continues to rule many hearts with its brilliant story and soulful songs. Over the years, Shraddha has definitely earned the crown of one of the most popular stars in the film industry. Sending all my love and best wishes to her for her future projects and ventures.

Aayman Anwar Ali

My favourite Shraddha Kapoor film is Stree. During a religious festival that lasts four days, a female spirit referred to simply as ‘Stree’ descends upon Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh, and abducts men in the dead of the night, only leaving behind their clothes. Men are at their most vulnerable and are advised by women to return home early, to not venture out alone and to not talk to strangers. When young men around him become victims of the feared spirit, Vicky’s friends force him to consider that there might be something fishy about this mysterious girl he’s been hanging out with, who no one else has seen, whose name he doesn’t know, and who’s given him a strange shopping list that includes cat’s hair and a lizard’s tail, among other things. Director Amar Kaushik mines this bizarre but refreshingly original premise for both laughs and jump scares. Frequently miscast or even misdirected in other films, Shraddha Kapoor blends in nicely as the alluring out-of-towner with an air of mystery around her.

Dyutiman Bhattacharya

Shraddha Kapoor is always a sweet, simple girl for many, who keeps on posting Instagram pictures of her daily routine activities like reading a book with her glasses on. She has pulled off her roles with simple and effortless acting. Her films that have touched my heart are Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Baaghi, Rock On 2, Haseena Parkar, Stree and Chhichhore. In Baaghi, her chemistry with Tiger Shroff was just as lovable as her pairing with Sushant Singh Rajput in Chhichhore. Her singing skills perfectly support the building up of emotions in her movies. I also liked her item number Dance Basanti in Ungli. To sum up, whatever the storyline and commercial aspect of the movie, Shraddha has done justice to all the characters she has played so far.

Anurupa Chakraborty

Shraddha Kapoor has quite a few feathers in her cap. Aashiqui 2 is frankly one of her most memorable hits. As Aarohi, she sang her way into our hearts and her sincere and dedicated effort didn’t go unnoticed. Her demure portrayal of Aarohi never hit a false note.

Ek Villain was Riteish Deshmukh’s redemption but Shraddha refused to fade into the background and gave an emotional performance as Aisha Verma. The moments of her struggle with her illness, the hard choices she made and the moment she met the ‘monster’ were sincerely essayed by Shraddha. Last but not least, her debut movie Teen Patti may have faded from our memories, but Shraddha Kapoor made it clear that she was here to stay. With co-stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Ben Kingsley and R. Madhavan, it may have been difficult to hold her ground but Shraddha left her mark nevertheless. She was quite effortless as Aparna, the studious geek who has a crush on Sid (Madhavan).

Roshni Ojha

My favourite Shraddha Kapoor film is the 2013 romantic musical Aashiqui 2, which centred on the beautiful and heart-touching love story of Rahul and Aarohi. Shraddha portrayed the character of Aarohi in the film and Aditya Roy Kapur was the hero, Rahul. Both of them acted very well in that movie. The film’s songs were so melodious that they became hugely popular. This Mohit Suri-directed blockbuster film is one of her best so far. The pretty Bollywood heroine really delivered a praiseworthy performance in the film. Once I read that one of her fans was so impressed with her Aashiqui 2 character of Aarohi that the admirer named their newborn daughter Aarohi after her!
